Consistent Evaluations to Ensure Your Insurance Environment is Healthy

  • Have sales or payroll estimates on General Liability changed? Are you dealing with large bills after the fact on your audits?
  • Have Business operations changed? Are there any jobs coming up that require specific endorsements or lines of coverage?
  • What new jobs are you bidding for? What are your plans for expansion?
  • Are there exclusions on the current policy that are leaving your business exposed to out-of-pocket expense?

Commercial Auto

Auto insurance is daunting for any business – between rising rates each year, frivolous or consistent claims, and uninsured drivers, it’s easy to feel like you’re at the mercy of the insurance carrier.

As Contractors, your vehicles, drivers, and coverage requirements could change at a moment’s notice. We are here to help make sure you have the best options possible.

Updated Policy Documents in an hour

Consistent Evaluations to Ensure You Are Covered

  • Are there any coverage gaps or policy limits that need to be evaluated?
  • Have you had any accidents or violations recently?
  • Are different carrier options being evaluated on a consistent basis?

Proactive Renewal to ensure you are saving money

  • Renewal process begins 90-120 days out to make sure there is enough time to manage annual premium
  • Consistent Market Evaluation to stay on top of the best carriers for your business
  • Annual Rate Checks to show you options, if necessary, at renewal time

  • Annual Coverage Analysis to make sure you can rest easy knowing you have the proper policy limits for your growing operation

Commercial Property

Commercial Property coverage is an ever-moving target in today’s insurance landscape.

Carriers are becoming more and more restrictive within specific geographies with regard to their appetite for Commercial Property risks.

Whether you live in the mountains of Colorado and are dealing with rising insurance costs or lack of carrier options due to fire score, or the plains of Texas and carriers are shying away from your wind and hail exposure, it’s important to work with a specialist who understands the industry and your needs for property insurance.

Our extensive carrier access means you will never be uninsured, and our holistic approach to your insurance portfolio means your property rates can be managed appropriately.

Some questions to ask:

  • Are your contents (Business Personal Property) adequately covered?
  • Have you used a valuation tool recently to determine the Replacement Cost of your building or structure?
  • Is your policy structure set up in a way that evolving property values will provide the best coverage?
  • Is your deductible getting out of control every year? Do you have an advocate to provide Deductible Analysis?

If these questions aren’t being answered consistently, we can help.

Commercial Inland Marine

A lot of confusion exists when it comes to Inland Marine coverage. It’s one of the most important coverages a Contractor can carry, but what does it cover?

Any piece equipment not permanently attached to your vehicles or property that is NOT rated for the public roads needs its own specific coverage.

Inland Marine insurance can provide coverage for many important items in the business including:

  • Specific pieces of equipment i.e. loaders, forklifts, scissor lifts, etc.
  • Company tools
  • Employee tools
  • Installation of client goods i.e. cabinets, siding, etc.

Is your equipment properly covered? Is your current broker keeping a master “Equipment List” to keep up with any changes come renewal time?

Let us provide a coverage evaluation of your equipment at no cost to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

Professional Liability

Are you a design-build contractor? Do you provide consulting, engineering, architectural, or construction management services?

If so, Professional Liability is an important line of insurance to carry, whether you are directly involved or subcontract out your design needs.

Also called “Errors and Omissions” insurance, Professional Liability provides important coverages for:

  • Negligence and Errors
  • Omissions
  • Defense Costs
  • Settlements and Judgments

Whether you are currently carrying a Professional Liability policy or not, it’s important to understand the coverages provided and how it can be utilized in your business.

Surety Bonding

As a contractor, you might have surety needs.

Surety Bonding is a three-party contract in which one party (the Surety – similar to the insurance carrier) guarantees the performance or obligations of a second party (the Principal – or contractor) to a third party (the Obligee – your client).

These are often requirements for specific jobs or licenses, and protect from potential losses resulting from poor workmanship or non-performance, malpractice or negligence, theft or fraud, and others.

Some of the most common types of surety bonds we help with:

  • Bid bonds
  • License and Performance bonds
  • Project-Specific bonds

If you have bonding needs, let us show you a better way to incorporate to your insurance portfolio.

Excess/Umbrella Liability

What is umbrella or excess liability coverage?

  • Liability coverage to sit in addition to the limits of liability present in General Liability, Auto Liability, Employers Liability (workers’ compensation), Professional Liability, Product Liability, Cyber Liability, and/or Liquor Liability (considered “underlying” policies)
  • Umbrella is considered an “overlying” policy that takes effect once the limits of the underlying policies have been exhausted
  • Example: if we have a $1 million limit per occurrence on General Liability, any claim that exceeds that amount would incur out-of-pocket expenses without the umbrella. With an umbrella policy, any amount over the underlying policy limit would be covered up to the amount of coverage selected by the umbrella policy

Why do contractors need this coverage?

  • Average General Liability claim can easily exceed $1 million in total cost (including damages, legal/defense costs, etc.), and the umbrella ensures you are protected against out-of-pocket claims expenses
  • If a claim happens on a specific project where multiple entities are providing labor/materials/work, it’s common for all of the included parties to be included in legal action and/or damages
  • Litigation has become more common in today’s landscape – umbrella/excess liability coverage further insulates your business and assets from legal action
  • If you’re acting as a subcontractor, most general contractors and large builders/developers require this coverage to remain compliant with subcontractor agreements
  • This requirement has become more and more common over recent years, and even longstanding contracts have begun to require this policy to be in effect

Builder’s Risk

Builders Risk insurance covers your new construction/remodel projects from the time you break ground until a Certificate of Occupancy is issued.

Whether a remodel, new home build, or a commercial project, it’s important to protect your building materials during construction.

Cyber

Since the pandemic, the insurance industry has seen a significant increase in frequency of claims on Cyber Insurance policies.

Whether Business Email Compromise, Ransomware, or Electronic Funds Transfer fraud, it’s more important than ever that you cover not just your own sensitive information, but that of your customers.

The two main segments of Cyber Insurance are:

First Party Cyber Insurance

  • Covers your business’ direct losses from a cyber incident affecting your own systems, networks, or data
  • Among other coverages, First Party Cyber Insurance provides relief from financial losses, data and asset recover, crisis management

Third Party Cyber Insurance

  • Provides liability protection in case a data breach or cyber incident at your company leads to claims or lawsuits from external parties
  • Protects your business from financial liabilities and legal expenses resulting from harm caused to clients, vendors, or other third parties due to a cyber incident involving your systems

Have you looked into Cyber coverage in the past? Let us help you craft the perfect coverages for your growing business.
